Visit London
For the past several years, I have wanted to visit London. It is not
particularly the tourist sites that attracted me. I know there are a lot
of places to visit in London. There is Hyde Park, Trafalgar Square, and
Big Ben, to name just a few. The real attraction of visiting London for
me, however, was seeing my friends. Some of my best buddies have been
living there for the past two years, and they have been trying to get me
out to see them. There is a great night scene in London England, and the
music is out of this world. I've been looking for a chance to party and
get away from it all, and it seemed like just the perfect way to do it.
I couldn't entirely resist the conventional scores stuff, of course. The
first day I was there, I took a London bus tour on one of those famous
double-decker buses. I have to admit that it was a lot of fun. It is
always nice to be able to get shown around a new city, and from the top
of one of those buses you have a great view of everything going on
around you. I can't say that I took it all in – there's just too much to
take in. Nonetheless, it gave me just a little bit of an idea of what
was out there and what I wanted to see.
When you visit London, you really probably shouldn't bother to rent a
car. This is a mistake that many London visitors make. One of the great
things about England is its excellent public transportation. When
visiting London, you can get anywhere you might want to go on the
trains. They are amazing. They go absolutely everywhere, and are much
faster than anything we have here in the states. Growing up in
metropolitan Detroit, I was particularly blown away to see such great
public transit. There is nothing like it in all of Michigan, and very
little in the United States.
For me, the best part of my trip to visit London was my time in the
pubs. The dance clubs were nice, but the pubs are really the center of
English culture. I learned some drinking songs, met people from all over
the world, tried out quite a few excellent beers, and really got a
feeling for the culture of the place. If you visit London and don't have
at least a pint or two a day, you have missed out on the whole point of
your trip.
