White Shirt
My husband’s new band has signed with a booking agent, and this guy
is tough. He seems to have a little more control over things than I
think he should, but if the guys in the band trust him, then it’s not
really my place to question. I have read a lot of his emails though, and
I have to say he sounds like a self-important buffoon. Whatever the case
though, he is getting them higher paying shows, and he seems to have big
plans for them and their future. Though I allow my husband the freedom
to do as he pleases, and music has always been a part of who he is,
there are things that are starting to grind on my nerves. One such thing
is the white shirt he must wear to each show. It seems like a little
thing but it’s snowballing into a headache.
Each member of his band must wear a white shirt and a tie. The looks
nice for them, but I’m the one that has to fight to keep the white shirt
looking white. They are starting to pile up too. He started out with two
of them, but as time goes on it seems that there are more and more of
them piling up around my house. Playing in a band is not something that
is a good idea if you want to wear white. When he comes home there are
all sorts of marks, stains, and other things that I have to try to get
out.
I am not a laundry guru. I am lucky if I can keep a white shirt of my
own looking bright and clean for longer than a few wears. We can’t keep
throwing out his shirts though, and this means I have to figure out what
to do to keep things clean and fresh looking. I can’t send him out with
a gray looking white shirt to a show. Bleach is only taking care of some
of the problem, and the more the shirts pile up, the more overwhelmed I
feel.
Though he has cleaned a few of his shirts on his own, and sadly had
better results that I have had, I still have to find a way to clean
them. When he first told me about the white shirt rule, I knew this
would happen. Now I have to pretend I know what I am doing. Is there
such a thing as a cheap disposable white shirt? My guess would be no,
that’s just my luck. Too bad he isn’t a Wiggle. There may be a lot of
shirts, but at least they are colored. Sigh.
